Description

Welp-

(Edit - 3.20.2013): Anywho I probably should have mentioned there WAS a picture I have that this pic was (loosely) based on (the pic was only a head shot). [link]

And also this was also a FIRST attempt at anything realistic (since I'm more of an elongated chibi / anime style artist). ^^; But yeah, For a first try, I know I can improve, yet I'm VERY proud of how this turned out. :)

Hi there <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>

I will give as many opinions that I personally would have applied to improve this artwork (as if it were my own).

- preferably draw on paper without lines. Line can have an influence to the feel and appearance when you draw, not to mention the end result. Normal printer paper should be better than this line paper.

- I like the face, head and hair. The body is the least successful part of this drawing. Normally, there are a certain amount of heads that the body can be divided into. Have a look at this picture:[link]

- Do not be afraid to draw hands. This is a common mistake that even I sometimes make. The hand on the side of the head, and the hand going off the page, are signs that you may be afraid to draw them. Here is my hands tutorial: [link]

- sensitivity of line: Try not to draw in the same weight throughout...sometimes one needs to use thinner lines, darker lines, lighter lines....this ads to the emotion and skill of the drawing. I know you made the eyes and side of lips more sensitive, but do it more throughout. Here's an example: [link]

- don't be afraid to make mistakes. You can draw loosely, then enhance certain parts, erase others. It is hard to make mistakes in art....you can always correct it somehow. You can cover bad areas with whiteout...even stick a new piece of paper over it or whatever. Don't be afraid.
Here i drew loosely, enhanced(and corrected) certain parts, focused less on other parts: [link]

You can even draw in a different colour pencil, and then go over (enhance or ink) with another. Like this: [link]
Blue pencils can be erased well on computer, which means grey or blacks over it, will still appear, but the pencils will be gone. Many artists inks like this in order to still be able to show their penciling, yet still being able to have inks.

Hope this helps...let me know
